Celebrating with the Soloist
Why we need to remind soloists they aren’t going it alone.
Often times, we can spend a fair amount of time celebrating the soloist.
We celebrate the accomplishments, the championships, and the awards.
We admire the rags-to-riches stories of entrepreneurs, the adversities overcome by athletes on their rise to the top of the game, and the accomplishments behind the names on the "Top XXXXX" lists.
While I don't object to the concept (there are many lessons to be learned amongst the stories of these soloists) - I think we overlook something far more valuable:
Instead of celebrating the soloist, we should celebrate WITH the soloist.
Cheering on our friends when they get the first order from their newly-launched eCommerce store. Toasting the 1,000th download of the podcast hosted by our colleague. Congratulating our friend who just crossed the finish line and self-published their first book.
Celebrating with the soloist is important because, although they are choosing to forge their own path, we need to remind them they aren't going alone.
On any project, The Dip is real. Our job is to encourage them through it and celebrate along the way.
Thanks for spending time with me in my workshop,
