Show Up Anyway
Why showing up is the first step towards creating magic.
There are times that you're asked to contribute to something without fully understanding the scope of the request.
You may be flying blind. You may not know the full story. You may feel the exact nature of your contribution is still nebulous. You may have questions about what's next.
But you should show up anyway.
Because it is in the uncertain and the nebulous that space exists to create magic.
I was recently received a phone call I wasn't expecting and on the other end of the call was the ask to contribute.
I had questions that weren't answered, concerns that weren't addressed, and an overarching sense of ambiguity.
But I raised my hand anyway.
And while I haven't yet gotten the clarity I might desire, it's become clear to me that there is space in the vagueness to create some magic.
Not all meetings have agendas. Not all projects are fully thought through. Not all requests are clear. And not all invitations are fully detailed. And when that's the case, you have the option to hesitate and ask for clarity before raising your hand - or you can show up anyway.
I'd encourage you to do the same.
And make some magic when you show up.
Thanks for spending time with me in my workshop,
Eric
