Out of the Blue
Why there’s no statute of limitations on relationships.
I received a text a few weeks back from someone I hadn't talked to in close to 10 years. It was, by all objective measures, completely out of the blue. (Interestingly enough, it was in response to a recent post of mine).
But, out of the blue or not, it was a wonderful message to receive. And it lead to a great catch-up conversation.
It can be easy to apply a statute of limitations to relationships. Our minds can make us believe that if we haven't connected with someone within a reasonable period, we've lost the right to reach out at all. But that simply isn't true - there are no statutes of limitations on relationships.
It may require you to muster some courage to reach back out after it feels like it's been too long - but I'd challenge you to do so.
Pick up the phone.
Send an email.
Flip a text.
Chances are, it will be met with excitement on the other end.
And, who knows, it might just be the perfect time to reconnect!
Thanks for spending time with me in my workshop,
Eric
